Code in CVS on SourceForge / March 25, 2002
Things have been moving along at a nice pace with the project and I might be able to narrow in on some kind of public release. Still working on documentation and cleaning up the code in places. The biggest announcement is that the project is now being hosted on SourceForge which is a online site dedicated to providing developer resources to open-source projects. The project name at source forge is COGNITION. I was going to use COG but it was already claimed by another software project. You can now get the latest version of the code through anonymous cvs at source forge. This is a big deal since this is the first step in distributing the code and hopefully getting some feedback. Click more to learn about getting cognition via cvs. Posted at 11:48 PM

Welcome / February 01, 2002
Welcome to the site of the COG modeling framework. COG is a collection of C++ classes that make the creation of cognitive models much easier. It includes many features that can help in the process of parameter fitting, simulation, and visualization. Models are created in a modular fashion so that it is easy to download and compare the performance of many existing models against your own. Furthermore, it is simple to download an existing model and modify it. COG is motivated by the fact that many scientists spend many hours debugging code for file paring routines and for parameter fitting without getting to actally work on their modeling code. Once they have got a working version of their code it usually become a big task to manage the code through revisions and as different data sets are modeled. COG attempts to address these problems by creating a standard library of C++classes that make developing models such as these easier. COG tries not to force any particular conventions on the programmer, but instead just provides functionality when it is needed. Think of it as the java foundation classes or the objective frameworks for cognitive science. Posted at 05:05 PM
